Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorges

Start your desert journey with a morning departure from Marrakech, crossing the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters). Along the way, admire sweeping views of the mountains and stop for photos, tea or coffee, and encounters with local Berber villages.

Your first major stop is the remarkable Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore this ancient fortress, known for its appearance in films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones, with about 2.5 hours to take it all in.

The journey continues through the scenic Valley of Roses and past charming desert landscapes until you reach the dramatic Dades Gorges, where you’ll spend the night in a comfortable hotel nestled between towering canyon walls.

Day 2: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Dunes

After breakfast, travel through the striking Dades Valley and head toward the impressive Todra Gorges, where 300-meter cliffs create a natural canyon perfect for walking and photos. You’ll have around 2 hours to explore the gorge, visit the nearby Todra village, and enjoy lunch at a local spot.

In the afternoon, the journey continues to Merzouga, the gateway to the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi, part of the majestic Sahara Desert. Upon arrival, switch to camels and ride into the golden dunes just before sunset.

Spend the night in a desert camp under the stars, enjoy a traditional Berber dinner, and relax with live music and storytelling around the campfire.

Day 3: Merzouga – Ouarzazate – Marrakech (or Fes)

Wake early to witness the magical sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes, then ride camels back to Merzouga. After breakfast, begin the return journey to Marrakech, passing again through Ouarzazate, with short stops for rest and exploration.

You’ll arrive in Marrakech around 8:30 PM, completing a rich and unforgettable Sahara Desert experience.

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Draa Valley – Zagora Desert

Your journey begins with a morning pickup at 7:30 AM from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. Travel through the stunning landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters). Along the way, enjoy scenic stops for photos, coffee, and panoramic views of Berber villages clinging to the hillsides.

Around midday, you’ll arrive at the legendary Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic ksars. You’ll have time to explore this historical fortress and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant overlooking the kasbah.

In the afternoon, continue your adventure through the breathtaking Draa Valley, famous for its lush palm groves, desert plateaus, and traditional mud-brick villages. By sunset, you’ll arrive in the Zagora Desert, where the first dunes of the Sahara begin.

Experience a magical camel ride through the dunes, arriving at your desert camp just in time for sunset. Enjoy a traditional Berber dinner, music around the campfire, and an overnight stay in a comfortable tent beneath the stars.

Day 2: Zagora – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

Wake up to a peaceful desert sunrise and enjoy breakfast at the camp. Afterward, ride camels back to the main road and begin your return journey to Marrakech. Along the way, stop in Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Sahara and a hub for international film productions.

Take a short visit to the famous film studios or Kasbah Taourirt, then continue your drive through the High Atlas Mountains.

You’ll arrive back in Marrakech around 8:00 PM, with unforgettable memories of Morocco’s Sahara Desert, Zagora dunes, and the stunning landscapes of the south.
